The election's almost over. Did ya notice?

While we wait for the election season to start, Big Money is already picking our candidates for us. Right now all the 2008 hopefuls are whoring themselves out to the highest bidder so they can accumulate the necessary cash to pay for a big-time campaign. Nowhere is this fact more obvious than in the presidential race where candidates are already hitting the skids due to lack of money. The Christian Science Monitor reported that former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack (D) announced that he is dropping out last Friday due a lack of “money, and only money.” I don’t know if the American public is missing out on anything because Vilsack has dropped out (other than some tasteless jokes about his name). What I find disturbing is how the cast of hopefuls is already getting quietly winnowed away by virtue of “money, and only money.”

Once again Bill Hicks seems to have summed it up.
I'll show you politics in America. Here it is, right here. "I think the puppet
on the right shares my beliefs." "I think the puppet on the left is more to my
liking." "Hey, wait a minute, there's one guy holding out both puppets!"

I'm willing to bet that guy isn't the masses contributing ten dollars at a time. No. That guy is Big Money.
