I thought I had lost this passage. I wrote it in my final year as an undergrad at Western Michigan University. The concept and message are what inspired the name of this blog. For what it's worth, here it is.

As we drive through our lives on roads that may or may not lead anywhere, we are continuously taking detours. The most interesting of which is when we think that we've never left the main road but are confronted with a "Detour Ends" sign. When did it start? How far did I go out of my way? The only comforting thing is knowing that another car followed you the whole way. Be it by choice or by chance, at least you weren't alone. - KDB
