Other than 666 one of the most often used symbols of the beast is the inverted pentagram.
That symbol is, of course, an inverted symbol of mankind.
Many of our nation's founding fathers were Freemasons and were well versed in this kind of symbology. Therefore, the stars on the US flag are the stars of man (with the point on top).
They considered the star-of-man pentagram so important that they even incorporated it into the layout of Washington DC with the White House placed at the apex.
Point on the top = man. Point on the bottom = the beast = Satan = evil.
Not a pretty picture, is it?
Now consider the stars on the symbol of the Republican Party.

666 is a numeric symbol that purposely marks the Vatican/Papacy throughout history, not any single individual. The number 666 is put forth in verse 13:18 in the Book of Revelation and of course, 6+6+6 equals 18, directly matching the verse number and helping to disprove any 616 assertions. The following information on triangular numbers further disproves attempts to hide the truth.

Men, women, and beasts symbolize organizations and groups of people in all symbolically sealed Hebrew prophecies and Revelation never mentions the so-called antiChrist. 666 is the most famous of all triangular numbers, being the sum of the whole numbers from 1 through 36. Triangular numbers were very important to Greek Pythogoreans and Hebrew wisdom groups purposely used them as pivotal symbolism pointing to Greco-Romans.
Likewise, John 21:11, which speaks of Peter, the supposed first Pope, has the number 21 in its chapter and verse number. 21 is also a triangular number that is the sum of all whole numbers from 1-6, thereby forming a triangle with three 6 point sides, hence a triangular 666.

Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land (earth) full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty and three (153); and for all there were so many, yet the net was not broken.
Additionally, 153 is a triangular number that is the sum of the whole numbers 1 through 17. Also the verse number is 11 and the sum of all whole numbers from 1 through 11 equals 66 and 17-11 equals 6. Why are 11 and 17 important in this verse talking about Peter and 666? The Second Temple period of ancient Israel was during the 11th 360-year cycle on the Hebrew calendar and the 21st century is the beginning of the 17th cycle, which began in Hebrew year 5761, which was Christian year 2001. Thereby, John 21:11 purposely links Peter, the Papacy, 666, and the 11th through 17th cycles on the Hebrew calendar. Notice also that the prophecies of St. Malachy say that the Papacy will end shortly, which will be during the 21st century and 17th cycle? Here is Wisdom!!

My primary reason for composing this post was to poke fun at the Republican Party. I found it deliciously ironic that the political party in the US that currently holds itself up as the party of God has allegedly satanic symbols on its emblem. That observation is the thrust of the post.
I agree with you that symbols can contain a great deal of power. However, I suspect that our opinions may diverge when it comes to the nature of that power. Symbols are given power by the people who believe in them. That power is not of the mystical sort that can cause brimstone to fall from the sky but rather the power to motivate people who believe into action. The swastika is perfect example. For centuries it was a symbol of good luck not unlike a four leaf clover. It was imbued with the power to do good by the people who believed in it. Under the Nazis and Hitler, the swastika took on a much darker meaning and is now (regardless of orientation) a very negative symbol. It’s the same symbol, but its meaning has changed because of how people perceive it.
Numerology is an entirely different critter. It is, to me, completely devoid of substance in the natural world. Our numbering system is based on set theory. Set theory is a human abstraction. Our use of base ten for counting is entirely an artifact of human evolution. All the numbers would be different if we all had ended up with eight fingers instead of ten. These two factors lead me to the opinion that no individual number has any intrinsic meaning other than being just another place holder in an infinite string of other place holders on the number line. Moreover, even that simple meaning as a place holder is lost as soon as standard numerology techniques are employed (like adding up the digits of a single number to get a different number). Insofar as they are symbols they can be imbued with power by believers like any other symbol.
On the greater issue of the impending Armageddon, I leave you with four letters: GIGO. Any predictions based on symbology and numerology are intrinsically flawed, and I simply cannot take them seriously. I spent enough time as a scientist to know that if you are intent on finding something you will find the necessary facts, no matter how tenuous, to support your position.
